This is an integrated challenge — which asks student to utlize tools to engineer a cart that rolls and transports a stuffed animal (powered by a robot). It’s a one day challenge, packed with a lot of different skills:
- make wheels/axles that are attached to an engineered cart/wagon
- connect cart to a robot
- utilize robot’s app to navigate your stuffed animal around the room
When we first started this challenge, I limited the robot to DASH. I did open it up for classes I saw later on in the week to other robots, like Sphero Bolt. Next time we do this challenge, I’ll open it up even more to include other robot choices like Meeperbots, Indis, and BeeBOTS. Additionally, I added additional resources to use when making wheels (K’Nex) and will increase availability of other wheel-making resources, like LEGO.
